Biography

I'm a twenty-something hippy/beach girl with a degree in English. My education so far has led me to a blossoming career in waitressing and having one too many cocktails at least once a week. I'm a feminist because when I tell someone I have a degree in Creative Writing they say, "Oh, so you want to be a teacher?" I'm a feminist because once a month a male customer will say something like, "You have a great ass, will you turn around?" assuming this isn't the most inappropriate thing I've heard all day. I'm a feminist because one of my friends and coworkers is getting beaten up by her live-in boyfriend on a regular basis and is yet to summon the courage to throw him out and change the locks. I love skirt! because it's ballsy, intelligent, witty, elegant, colorful and diversely universal. skirt! is as articulate as Hilary Clinton and as poignant as the Oprah show. A few months ago driving a regular route, I saw a new green skirt! dispenser sitting on the sidewalk in Madeira beach. I slammed on the brakes in four lanes of traffic, cut off a beer truck to change lanes, and jumped the curb to get my hands on the newest issue in print. Okay, I didn't. But I really wanted to.
