I am a feminist because my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother gave me the courage and wisdom to recognize my strength as a black woman. Their guidance inspires me to help young girls prepare spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, and culturally for their passage into womanhood.
 

Angela Patton is the Founder and Director of Camp Diva, an educational program that empowers teen girls to realize their potential. Coordinator of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention program at VCU, Angela describes herself as “a womanist” adding, “It all starts at home.”
