She launched Stone Circle of Friends 18 months ago, when her two boys were diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. Since then, Edibell’s raised $330,000 for genetic research at U.Va. MedicalCenter: “We’re close to a cure.” A former psychotherapist with Venezuelan roots, she balances “accepting what is with fighting for what can be” and draws strength from Bikram Yoga.

Connect with your own wisdom. For me it’s through yoga; for others it may be gardening, music or writing.

Seek the light. Accept life’s difficulties; allow yourself to grieve; then find the hope, the way out, and fight like hell to get there.

Send a message to the world. Tell it what you want through unrelenting action. Let go of the outcome. The world will respond.

Invite fear into your life. I worked through many layers of fear before asking people to help fund the research that would benefit my boys. I still do.

Own your time. Doing can’t substitute for being.  Make a list of all your activities, then cut them by half: I dare you.
